PV System Operation & Maintenance - Home Study

Summary Description: Work within a team to perform required preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems. Responds to corrective maintenance cases to troubleshoot, test, and repair.

Home Study Program: The Home Study Program (HSP) is the perfect venue that caters to the academic needs of those who cannot be in school on a regular basis brought about by health constraints or some occupation. This is combine synchronous and asynchronous learning to create a structure in which the student is required to meet at a specific time in practical classroom [1] [2] and online support (Internet chat room). Institute of Solar Technology will provide two days practical training facility at IST main branch at Howrah, West Bengal.

This enrolment system only for those, Who are engaged in PV industry or electrical field. They can enroll in this system. In Home Study system student will get books (Soft or hard copy) as per schedule, they study at home and Institute of Solar Technology will allow to complete assignments on their own time from home, complete practical assignment and pass through an examination. Upon completion, you will receive your certificate.

Job Role

Solar Photovoltaic Plant Operation and Maintenance engineer inspects and perform schedule maintenance jobs for plant, i.e include mechanical and electrical components; performs periodic cleaning of PV modules; and maintains performance data records.

Responsibility of O&M Technician : The PV plants operates with the following basic modular building blocks : Solar Inverter, Solar Batteries, Solar Charge Controller and Solar Panels. Operating the plant requires an understanding of the current and voltages across the system.

BoS or Balance of System components play a huge role in the operation of the plant and these include, system wiring (capacity and size), Earthing and Lightening Protection Equipment and AJB/ DC DB which are basically Junction Boxes.

Traditional Learning vs. IST Skill Training

Education is all about learning the theory. Traditionally, an education may reinforce knowledge in which that you already have a foundation.
And that's where IST Skill training differs; IST training gives you the skills to do something rather than just know about something. Training can be specific to your need, your work experience or your skills-gap.
